Joker is the 2019 psychological thriller following one of the possible back stories for the DC and Batman villain The Joker. The story follows Arthur Fleck played by Joaquin Phoenix as a mentally ill man who lives in Gotham with his mother and has a job as a clown ding different gigs around the city. Fleck also has a condition where he laughs uncontrollably.
As the story progresses we see both how awful Gotham as a city is and how the world is not kind to those like Fleck. Which considering this is a Joker orgin story and he does horrible things you do feel sorry for him which is some ways feels dirty.
I don’t want to spoil anything in this movie because if you haven’t seen it, its one of those movies that should be seen a blind as possible. Personally, while I liked the movie and the interesting conversations it has created online I keenly felt anxiety for Fleck and some of the other characters. The movie as a whole is one man story who is slowly descending into madness. Its one of the best DC movies to come out in the last few year though I doubt that I will be connected to any other DC movies.
